Strawberry Days

Saturday was a very good day. After coming in early from Dallas, TX that morning, Tay picked me up and we cruised home. I was so happy to be back in his arms. We were both absolutely exhausted when we got home and crashed. Yes, we took a nap. I can't even remember the last time we took a nap. It felt amazing! It's funny that one of the only times we can cuddle and actually fall asleep is when we are so exhausted and take a nap. I love it naps. 

Spontaneously that evening we were driving home from dinner in Lehi, and saw all the excitement from Strawberry Days. We thought, WHY NOT?! So we headed on over to the carnival and before we knew it we were hanging upside down on a ride that was brought in on a Semi! As I get older I begin to lose my trust about those rides. But Taylor's dreamy hazel eyes were just to hard to say no to. I drew the line on the roller coaster loopty loop one , but other than that... all the rides were fair game. We walked around hand in hand smelling in the fresh scent of summer. I can now say, I can knock getting a stuffed animal (from my lover) off the list. Taylor was quite the basketball player. 3 shots in the hoop. haha, it was quite easy, but hey I was flattered he won me a cute little bear. We named it Percy. 

I don't know what the name of the ride was but it's my absolute favorite. It's the one where you go inside the little globe, stand against the wall, then get spun around until you feel like your veins are going to burst out your neck. Sounds fun right? Taylor has never been on carnival ride period, so he was in for a treat. I think the funniest moment was looking over at him, as we were both pinned against the wall, and he just had tears flying out his eyes. I could not stop laughing. We definitely needed to take a breather after that one. So we decided to take a ride on the Farris Wheel. I absolutely love Farris Wheels, ever since I saw the movie Charlie when I was a little girl. There is just something about them that is so magical. So we cuddled up and saw the carnival from a whole different perspective, above the trees. 

This night was very much needed after being away from each other for a week. It was absolutely perfect. 

Living on the Edge of Adventure

You know how after a good vacation you cannot stop looking at all the photos and reminiscing? Maybe it's just me but I cannot stop looking at all these fun pictures. We were due for a much needed adventure and Moab was just the place to do it. 
The first night we got in at around 12:00am. Tents are not fun to set up that late when all you want to do is be in it, sleeping soundly. After getting it up and realizing we didn't have stakes, we climbed in hoping to finally sleep. But, that didn't happen. When it's windy in a tent i'm pretty sure it sounds like one of two things: either a bear attacking the campground  or a serial killer trying to undo all the zippers to get in and kill us. Needless to say, it was loud and we didn't sleep! We both tried for about an hour thinking the other was asleep, but we came to the realization that neither of us had fallen asleep and we had both been staring at the tent for the past hour. Then a little giggle fit took place. I don't know why we were laughing so hard. Maybe because we both just could NOT sleep or that the tent was plastered to our faces it was so windy. We decided to watch Prison Break for awhile (by this time it was 2 am). I think we watched 4 episodes and we still weren't tired. I finally feel asleep around 4:30 am and Taylor finally at 6 am. But you know how it goes in tents, once that first speck of sunlight hits in the morning the tent immediatly becomes a sauna. So 7 am we were up and ready to go. 
We finally were able to see Delicate Arch for our first time. It was such a fun hike being with the family. Although some got tired and others almost peed on a rattlesnake... we eventully made it to the top! What a view! 
Jeeping was another highlight of our adventure. I'm still getting the hang of it -this being my second time. Taylor even convinced me to drive! Yeah, call me hard core now. I'm telling you though, this family knows what they are doing. We did some pretty sketch stuff. We jeeped poisonous spider, and hells revenge.  The thing that makes me really laugh is on the intense parts. Everyone would get out of the jeeps to watch and take pictures from the sidelines. Especially all the moms and kids. Anytime all those nephews could get out to run around on that sandstone, they would take the chance. 
Another great little adventure were the teacups. It is a waterfall and lots of cliffs to jump off. Oh and let me not forget to tell you it's SURROUNDED by Poison Ivy. So use caution when taking the trail towards it. Thankfully this trip I was taught what Poison Ivy looks like! 
There is nothing like bringing a family together than roughing it in the great outdoors!
